Vaginal ultrasound (or transvaginal ultrasound) is diagnostic examinationby which a doctor examines the uterus, ovaries, cervix and other organs of the small pelvis.
It is implemented with a special narrow ultrasound probewhich is gently inserted into the vagina and uses sound waves to display an image of the internal organs on a screen.
The investigation allows an accurate view of the condition of the genitals, helping to detect cysts, fibroids, inflammation, early pregnancy or other changes.
The procedure is short (takes a few minutes), usually painless, without the use of X-rays and is safe even in early pregnancy.
