
Problems with inflammatory vaginal infections are common gynaecological problems in which inflammation of the vagina (vaginitis) due to bacteria, fungi or parasites. They often cause unpleasant symptoms, which can include abnormal discharge (white, yellow, greyish or lumpy), itching or burning, redness or swelling of the mucous membranes, unpleasant odour, pain during intercourse or urination.

Treatment depends on the causative agent and usually involves antibiotics for bacterial infections, antifungal drugs for fungal infections, antimicrobial drugs for parasites, and hygiene measures and avoidance irritants (fragrances, aggressive soaps).
