Breast examination is a procedure that assesses the health and condition of the breast and checks for any changes, lumps or other signs of diseasesuch as inflammation, cysts or cancer.

The purpose of the review is early detection of changeswhen they are still small and treatable. The breast examination is carried out by a doctor who, with palpation (groping) check the breasts and armpits. The examination takes only a few minutes and doesn't hurt. Patients can also undergo imaging tests - breast ultrasound or mammography - (as part of a screening programme DORA).
