Doctors usually make this diagnosis when a woman under 35 years of age does not become pregnant after 12 months regular unprotected sexual intercourse, the woman over 35 years of age does not become pregnant after 6 months of regular unprotected sexual intercourse or if there are known health problemsthat make it difficult to get pregnant (e.g. hormonal disorders, Endometriosis, sperm problems).
Approximately 10-15 % of couples worldwide experience infertility.
Causes for fertility problems are most common in women: Hormonal disorders, polycystic ovaries (PCOS), blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, age, for men, the most common are: low sperm count or motility, hormonal problems, exposure to toxins, smoking, alcohol and common factors most commonly: stress, obesity, too little or too much physical activity, diet, lack of sleep.
